Wrecks have I-26 traffic backed up between Chapin and Newberry

March 23, 2013

The Newberry County Sheriff’s Office is advising motorists to steer clear of I-26 between Chapin and Newberry if at all possible.

Several accidents have caused a traffic backup on the westbound side of the highway, the sheriff’s office said around 12:15 p.m. The numerous emergency vehicles in the roadway and wet weather are adding to delays.

No one seems to be severely injured, the sheriff’s office said.

Motorists are advised to drive with caution, especially considering the wet conditions.
