The State’s Berry honored with portfolio review

March 27, 2013

— Fresh from his Photographer of the Year award from the S.C. News Photographers Association this past weekend, The State newspaper’s C. Aluka Berry has received an international honor.

Berry is one of only 160 photographers selected for an exclusive New York Portfolio Review, sponsored by the New York Times. The Review received a total of 2,700 entries for the two-day critique.

Berry's work will be seen by leading photo editors, museum curators, book publishers, gallery owners and the Library of Congress curator for one-on-one reviews. His work will be seen by publications such as The New York Times, National Geographic and Vanity Fair.

“This honor is a reflection of what we all already know in South Carolina,” Tom Peyton, visual editor of The State newspaper said, “Chris Berry is an elite photographer.”
