— Mepkin Abbey opens a series of lectures April 11 on “Discerning the Call of the Second Half of Life.”

Sister Ann Billard, a member of the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady of Mercy, will speak at the 2-4 p.m. lecture in the Clare Boothe Luce Library Conference Room on the grief that comes with aging and with loss.

Sister Ann will speak on the biblical story of the risen Christ appearing to the disciples on the road to Emmaus as a way to find freedom and hope through contemplative thought and inquiry. The cost of the lecture is $10 payable at the door. Pre-registration is required because of limited space.

To register call (843) 761-6580 or email mepkinlectures@gmail.com. Subsequent lectures in the series will be held June 6 and Oct. 3.
