Wood bat baseball tournament opens Monday

A different approach to spring break baseball tournaments will be on display at Camden’s Legion Field, Richland Northeast and Ridge View this week during the Kershaw-Richland Classic.

All games at the three sites will feature batters utilizing wood bats.

Camden (6-6) and Lugoff-Elgin (4-10) are the Midlands entries at Legion Field, while Richland NE (7-7), Ridge View (4-9), Dutch Fork (8-6) and first-year Westwood are the four teams in the Richland County portion of the tournament.

The event culminates with place games at RNE on Thursday.

Monday, April 1

Kershaw: Lugoff-Elgin vs. Olean NY (5 p.m.); Camden vs. Olean, NY (7:30 p.m.). Dutch Fork at Richland NE (6:30 p.m.); Westwood at Ridge View (6:30 p.m.).

Tuesday, April 2

Kershaw: Lugoff-Elgin vs. Wilson (5 p.m.); Camden vs. Wilson (7:30 p.m.). Dutch Fork vs. Westwood at RNE (6:30 p.m.); Richland NE at Ridge View (6:30 p.m.).

Wednesday, April 3

Kershaw: Lugoff-Elgin vs. Camden (7:30 p.m.). Dutch Fork at Ridge View (6:30 p.m.); Westwood at Richland NE (6:30 p.m.).
