Prep Talk | Myrtle Beach remains No. 1 in state soccer poll

April 1, 2013

Myrtle Beach boys soccer coach Jason Himmelsbach is going to have to find a new way to motivate his team.

A lack-of-respect approach probably isn't going to work.

For the second consecutive week, the Seahawks were No. 1 in the South Carolina Soccer Coaches Association Class AAA poll. Myrtle Beach (8-1) followed up a penalty kick win over then-No. 1 Socastee on March 19 with victories over Waccamaw and Region VII-AAA foe Wilson.

This week, the Seahawks will be playing in the highly competitive 16-team Nike Palmetto Cup at Brookland-Cayce High School outside Columbia. In addition to Myrtle Beach, Class AAAA No. 1 Wando, No. 4 Fort Mill and Class AAA No. 4 Brookland-Cayce and Class AA No. 2 Bishop England will be playing.
