Prep Talk | Five area teams ranked in state softball polls

Carolina Forest remained No. 2 in the Class AAAA softball rankings, released late Monday evening. The Panthers, whose only loss of the year remains the one it suffered two weeks ago against Conway, is also ranked No. 25 in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 national rankings.

St. James also climbed several spots to No. 5 in the Class AAA poll. The Sharks lost their first game of the season Monday morning in the Grand Strand Invitational.

Two Class AA teams - Aynor at No. 7 and Waccamaw at No. 8 - checked in this week. And Green Sea-Floyds (No. 8 in Class A) rounded out the list of area schools.
