Columbia, SC — The United States and allies must be concerned about the saber rattling of North Korea. If this causes another Korean war, I hope it will fought for the right reasons.
With all due respect to President Bush, I believe the Iraq and Afghan wars were fought for the purpose of nation building, which is not our job. Perhaps this is the main reason we are not involved in the Syrian civil war. We believe in freedoms for ourselves and others, but nation building goes too far.
Many of us believe that we are not involved enough in Syria. Our governments are moving cautiously because it is not clear what kind of government will emerge if the Syrian government falls. It may be that the jury is still out for Iraq and Afghanistan, also.
The brave U.S. troops are not scheduled to be out of Afghanistan until mid- to late 2014. I wonder how long it would take if they were needed in Korea.
