Columbia, SC — A writer recently wondered why corporations aren’t hiring while taxes are low and profits are at record highs (“Why aren’t firms hiring more?” March 17)? Because corporations are taxpayer-subsidized to move jobs overseas. This is known as “corporate welfare.”
As opposed as they are to “public welfare,” our legislators totally support corporate welfare. Where do their campaign funds come from? The “people” who are corporations.
Please write your congressperson and ask him why we taxpayers are paying corporations to send our jobs elsewhere. Bring up this subject while talking to your friends and co-workers. Many are aware of this outrage.
Welfare Cadillac — bad. Welfare BMW, Jaguar, Rolls, etc. — OK.
As the saying goes, if pro is the opposite of con, Congress is the opposite of progress.
