Riverbanks set attendance record on Saturday

April 11, 2013

— If you were at Riverbanks Zoo last Saturday and thought you’d never seen it that crowded during spring break, you were right.

Riverbanks set a one-day spring break attendance record Saturday when 12,979 came through the gates.

With one rainy day, the spring break week didn’t break the all-time record, but attendance still hit 55,175 for the seven days ending April 7.

The spring break week record is 63,513, set in 2010.

Fun statistics from

Saturday: 544 climbers toured the Sky-High Safari ropes course, 4,800 pieces of lettuce were handed out at the Giraffe Overlook and nearly 1,000 cups of nectar were fed to the birds in the Lorikeet Aviary.
