Sgt. Richmond Hobson Hilton Field to be rededicated Tuesday

— Fort Jackson officials will rededicate Sgt. Richmond Hobson Hilton Field in a ceremony Tuesday after nearly a year under-going renovation.

Hilton Field is the parade ground where nearly all basic training units hold their graduations. The upgrades include a new pedestrian promenade with stone, brickwork and landscaping. State and territorial flag displays have also been instituted along th walkway, along with with benches and digital signs.

The familiar “Standing Andy” statue of President Andrerw Jackson, for whom the post is named, has been moved from the Jackson Boulevard gate to become the center piece of a new main entrance to HIlton Field. In addition
