Columbia, SC — I was shocked to find out that a group of politicians proposed a restriction on conversation between physicians and their consumers. It is beyond any reason that any discussion that would provide information and education to promote an informed decision should be censored. Shame on these politicians for promoting this, and shame on South Carolinians who would allow this to happen without resistance.
Our pediatrician discussed the dangers of having a trampoline at home, which was important in providing a safe environment. Because of her experience and information, our child’s exposure was minimized to only supervised usage. The presence of guns in a home with children also should be open for discussion as a safety issue. Or have we become so complacent that we adults are no longer capable of making informed decisions that we just do what we are told?
It would be very refreshing to have our politicians represent the opinions of the residents who live in their districts instead of using their positions to air their personal opinions.
