Columbia’s CityServe kicks off Saturday

— More than 200 volunteers are expected to canvass the community for a targeted week of service when the city’s inaugural One Columbia:CityServe kicks off Saturday.

Volunteers have signed up for a range of community service projects that include meal preparation for hungry children, river cleanups, trash pickup and home repairs.

The CityServe effort is being coordinated by the mayor’s office and is intended to encourage and promote acts of service and volunteerism throughout Columbia. The week will draw from several sectors including government, education, business, military, civic and others.
