Boston Bombings

Gamecocks run for Boston

April 18, 2013

The Beta Theta Pi fraternity at the University of South Carolina organized a Thursday evening run as a memorial and fundraiser for the victims of the twin bombings in Boston.

Hundreds of students – as many as 500, organizers said – took part in the event, held at the Greene Street intramural fields near the Colonial Life Arena.

The fraternity sold T-shirts and collected money for the Richard Family Fund. Martin Richard, who was 8, was killed and his mother and 6-year-old sister were severely injured by the blasts.
