New Third Army commander confirmed

Army Lt. Gen. James L. Terry

The U.S. Senate has confirmed Army Lt. Gen. James L. Terry for reappointment to the rank of lieutenant general and for assignment as commanding general, Third Army/ARCENT, at Shaw Air Force Base.

Terry is currently serving as commander, International Security Assistance Force Joint Command/deputy commander, U.S. Forces-Afghanistan, Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan.

The Senate previously confirmed current Third Army/ARCENT commanding general Lt. Gen. Vincent K. Brooks for appointment to the rank of four-star general and assignment as the commanding general, U.S. Army Pacific, Fort Shafter, Hawaii.

A change of command ceremony is expected to be scheduled for late June at Shaw Air Force Base.
