BANKING & FINANCE

Merrill Lynch Financial advisor J. Michael McCabe of Columbia has been nationally recognized as among the top 10 advisors in South Carolina by Barron’s magazine in its annual “America’s Top 1,000 Advisors: State-by-State” list.

CONSTRUCTION

M.B. Kahn Construction Co. has been chosen to serve as the general contractor for the Constantia Hueck Foils LLC renovation and expansion in Richland County.

EDUCATION

Sustainable Carolina has named Andrew Greytak, USC-Columbia; Helene Maire-Afeli, USC-Union; and Tom Syfert, USC-Columbia; as recipients of the first Sustainable Carolina Curriculum Awards. The awards recognize fellows who demonstrate significant progress toward integrating sustainability into the USC curriculum.

ENVIRONMENTAL

Mary McIntosh, Mike Kelly, Judy Timmons, Valerie Marcil, Thom Bristol and Lewis Kirk have been named new board members for the Gills Creek Watershed Association and will direct the association for a three-year term.

INSURANCE

South Carolina Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Co. has contracted with Zach Ellis to serve as an agent in the Lexington-Irmo office.

LAW

Vordam Carlisle Traywick III has been elected editor-in-chief of the South Carolina Law Review.

NONPROFIT

The Girl Scouts of South Carolina - Mountains to Midlands honored five women of distinction who exemplify excellence in service, leadership, community and professionalism. The honorees include Cynthia Cooper, Sara B. Fisher, Liz McMillan, Elise Partin and Barbara D. Willm.

RETAIL

Wes Baxter of the Pollock Company has been named Salesperson of the Cycle for Sales Cycle 3-2013.
