White Knoll High School dismissed after bomb threat

— White Knoll High School students have been dismissed from classes after receiving a bomb threat.

Police believe the threat is a prank, but school officials decided to err on the side of caution, considering recent events in Boston, said Mary Beth Hill, a spokeswoman for Lexington 1.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department has been notified and every student on campus has been accounted for, according to an email sent to parents.

The building has been evacuated. Buses were loading up and leaving shortly after noon, and students who drive to school were told to leave immediately, the district reported.

Car riders were waiting for their parents at Life Springs Church, which is across the street from the school.

Additional information will be posted on the high school’s website, Hill said.
