MetLife blimp floats through Columbia

— Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s MetLife’s Snoopy 1.

The blimp, which spent the last week in the Lowcountry for the RBC Heritage golf tournament in Hilton Head, can be seen passing over Columbia Wednesday on its way to Charlotte, according to Kyler Hengst, a MetLife spokesman.

The blimp, one of two operated by the insurance company, is heading to Charlotte for the Wells Fargo Championship tournament. On it’s way, however, the blimp has passed over Williams-Brice Stadium, the Vulcan Materials Quarry in the Olympia neighborhood and downtown Columbia. The blimp will be in Charlotte by the end of the day Wednesday, Hengst said.

MetLife’s two blimps, Snoopy 1 and Snoopy 2, follow the PGA tour and cover 75 tournaments each year. If you would like to know more about the blimps or to see where they are headed next, follow @MetLifeBlimp on Twitter.
