Meet the American Idol Finalist

Candice Glover

— On Saturday, Candice Glover will get to do what she’s wanted to for weeks: thank Beaufort County for supporting her on “American Idol.”

After being named to the show’s Top 3 on Thursday night, the St. Helena Island native will return to Beaufort for a hometown concert and parade on Saturday at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.

Glover, Angie Miller of Beverly, Mass., and Kree Harrison of Woodville, Texas, all get hometown trips this weekend. Eliminated Thursday night after the contestant performances Wednesday night was Amber Holcomb of Houston.

“I’d love to come home and see all the buzz people are talking about,” Glover said in a phone interview last week.

But she’s most excited about visiting with her six siblings whom she hasn’t seen since leaving for the contest in February.

Albertha Middleton,

Glover will compete next week to see if she can win a spot in the finale May 15 and 16.
