Hiker briefly missing at Congaree National Park

Columbia - The StateMay 5, 2013

A woman missing in the Congaree National Park Swamp was found Sunday evening.
Several local, state and federal agencies had been searching for her, said Brick Lewis, a spokesman for the Columbia Fire Department.
She had been hiking in the park, Lewis said. The 26,000-acre park is a vast track of roadless hardwood and pine forests located in a low-lying flood plain astride the Congaree river.
Besides the fire department, other agencies involved in the Lower Richland County search included the Richland County sheriff's department, county EMTs and the S.C. Department of Natural Resources.
