May 6, 2013

UPDATED, 11:15 a.m. Monday: A woman killed early Sunday afternoon in a single-car crash on Garners Ferry Road has been identified.

Pamela J. Knudsen, 58, was the driver and only occupant of her 2009 Toyota when it left the roadway and struck a tree, according to Richland County coroner Gary Watts and the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Preliminary exam results show that she died from head and chest trauma from the wreck, Watts said. Knudsen was wearing a seat belt.

The Toyota was headed east near U.S. 601 around 12:35 p.m. when it left the road, according to the Highway Patrol.

The patrol is investigating.
