Flora's Upper State opener on hold

May 7, 2013

Defending Class 3A state champion A.C. Flora’s first-round Upper State baseball tournament game at Eastside on Monday was cancelled because of rain and is tentatively set for Tuesday.

“The forecast is not good for tonight, but even if we can’t play today, we have received permission to have the game at the Greenville Drive’s stadium on Wednesday,” said Falcons coach Andy Hallett.

The other Upper State tourney opener – Greenville vs. Travelers Rest – was also called because of rain.

Both Lower State games in the Midlands were played. Airport whipped Socastee 9-3 and James Island nipped Brookland-Cayce 3-2 to set up Wednesday’s semifinal game at Airport.
