Wednesday letters: Prison better than Obamacare

May 8, 2013

— The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Obamacare to be constitutional only as a tax. A mandate requiring individuals to purchase health insurance or pay a fine is unconstitutional.

Why doesn’t Congress implement Obamacare as a tax? I pay taxes on purchases I choose to make. Being forced to make a purchase is not only unconstitutional; it’s a communist act.

I chose not to purchase health insurance because I prefer to have a roof over my head and food on the table and enjoy the luxuries of the rich — like electricity and running water.

So if I choose not to purchase health insurance and not pay the fine, will I go to prison? I hear they furnish free shelter, clothing and food, plus medical and dental. Sounds better than being a prisoner of Obamacare.
