SC OKs $34 million to renovate 3 USC dorms

May 8, 2013

— State leaders approved $34 million in bonds Wednesday for the University of South Carolina to renovate three dorms just as work is about to begin.

The vote by the S.C. State Budget and Control Board was delayed for two months to answer questions about adding debt at the state’s flagship university.

Work starts next week on the makeover of the Sims, McClintock and Wade Hampton dorms, which have 550 beds. The dorms will be closed for the next school year.
