Irmo native and USC alumnus Danny Efland will drive Mike Harman’s No. 75 Chevrolet in the VFW/Sport Clips Help a Hero 200 at Darlington Raceway on Friday.

Efland finished 20th in last year’s Darlington race during his most successful year on the Nationwide circuit. The Darlington race was one of a career-best 18 races, leading to a No. 21 finish in the Nationwide standings and $371,408 in earnings.

So far in 2013, Efland has qualified for Daytona’s Nationwide race, where he finished 25th. In April, he finished 28th at the Camping World Truck race at Kansas. Friday’s entry came at the last minute thanks to a late co-sponsorship by The Residence at Marina Bay, a Lake Murray resort.

The 24-year-old Efland has been racing since he was 5 and was a five-time Karting National Champion. Harman has more than 300 starts in NASCAR and the ARCA series.
