Powell, Suber win seats on Forest Acres council

May 15, 2013

Forest Acres voters chose home builder Beau Powell from a field of six candidates for city council in Tuesday’s municipal election.

Forty-year veteran Shell Suber, the council’s longest-serving member, was returned to office. He was the day’s highest vote-getter.

The two will be seated July 1.

Just 10 votes separated Powell from his next-closest competitor, Jack Cantey. Also running were Paige George, Albert Epstein and Ralph Bailey.

Longtime Councilman Charlie Fetner chose not to run for re-election, leaving a vacant seat and producing the largest field of candidates in recent memory. Fetner has since passed away.
