Thursday letters: Collection is a coup for USC

May 16, 2013

— Kudos to my friend and colleague Tom McNally and USC for having garnered the fabulous graphics collection (“USC lands $30 million in historic artwork,” Friday).

In the day when too many ill-informed pundits pronounce the demise of libraries, it is heartwarming to see celebrations of expanded collection development, increased access to resources and the continued role that libraries and librarians fill. This role ensures evolving educational support, increased research opportunities, strong preservation emphases and overall unfettered access to our civilization’s treasures.

Thank you for the donation, W. Graham Arader III. Way to go Tom and all your USC colleagues.
