Government

Columbia Board of Zoning Appeals: 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Eau Claire Print Building, corner of North Main Street and Monticello Road. Request to convert the Whitney Hotel on Devine Street into apartments.

Columbia City Council committees: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Public Safety Committee; 2 p.m. Tuesday, Arts & Historic Preservation Committee. Both meetings are in the Parking Services Conference Room, 820 Washington St.

Forest Acres City Council: 5:15 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 5205 North Trenholm Road.

Richland County Council: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, the council holds a work session on its hospitality tax and accommodation tax appropriations for 2013-14, followed by a vote, at the Richland County Administration Building, 2020 Hampton St., Columbia.

Building Codes Board of Appeals: 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday in council chambers of the Richland County Administration Building, 2020 Hampton St., Columbia.

Around Town

Richland County Legislative Delegation: Tuesday at noon, the delegation meets to fill a vacancy on the Richland County Board of Elections & Voter Registration, in the Senate conference room, third floor of the State House.

Swansea Town Council: 6:30 p.m. Monday at Town Hall, 320 W. 3rd St.

Batesburg-Leesville Town Council: 7 p.m. Monday at town public safety complex, 660 W. Columbia Ave.: Final approval of spending plan for year starting July 1

Gilbert Town Council: 7 p.m. Monday at Town Hall, 345 Hampton St.: Final approval of spending plan for year starting July 1

County Council: 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at county administration building, 212 S. Lake Drive, Lexington: Final approval for spending plan for year starting July 1

Pine Ridge Town Council: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Town Hall, 2757 Fish Hatchery Road: Public hearing and final approval of proposed spending plan for year starting July 1

Pelion Town Council: 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Town Hall, 1010 Main St.
