TRAVELERS REST, SC — A 30-year-old Travelers Rest man has been charged with Internet crimes involving children, according to the South Carolina Attorney Generals Office and warrants.
Walter Thomas Alexander, of 612 North Main St., Lot 2, has been charged with 21 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor third degree, according to warrants from the Travelers Rest Police Department.
He could face up to 10 years in prison on each count if he is convicted, the Attorney Generals Office said.
Warrants charge Alexander with possessing a hard drive with a video of child pornography.
The Travelers Rest Police Department, a member of the Attorney Generals Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, acting on a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, conducted the investigation that led to the mans arrest, the Attorney Generals Office said.
Alexander was arrested by the United States Marshals Service in Thomson, Ga.
The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney Generals Office.
