COLUMBIA, S.C. — The National Safety Council will break ground Friday on a new state-of the-art conference center in Irmo.
The 6,500 square-foot center will be available to the community for workshops, training and presentations, according to the council. The center at 421 Mission Court will feature stadium seating, audiovisual equipment and a full service kitchen.
The conference center is expected to open in early January 2014.
“The National Safety Council is excited to provide these amenities for the community to utilize,” said Brooke Russell, council executive director and chief operating officer. “We believe safety is in everybody’s best interest.”
A self-supported, nonprofit agency, the National Safety Council has educated the community about improved safety on roads and at work and home.
The council offers a variety of classes to the community, including defensive driving, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation to national occupational and safety standard certification, and state-approved teen driving class training.
