CAROLINA RIVER CONNECTION: Basic canoe, sea/rec and whitewater kayak instruction and rentals. Five guided trips for all levels of paddlers, including half-day, full-day and overnight trips. EDVENTURE CHILDREN’S MUSEUM: The Museum, 211 Gervais St., presents “Blooming Butterflies” from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Saturday, and 12:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. on Sunday. The 2,500-square-foot exhibit is filled with dozens of species of trees and plants and more than 20 species of butterflies native to the southeast. (803) 799-3100

MAXCY GREGG POOL: Recreational swim hours are Monday-Friday from 1-7 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday from 2-6 p.m. Daily fees are $2 for ages 12 and younger, $3 for ages 13 and older. Seasonal passes for ages 12 and under are $80 and $120 for ages 13 and older. (803) 545-3100

RIVERBANKS ZOO AND GARDEN: Backyard Buds is open to children ages 3 and 4 on Thursdays from 10-10:45 a.m. The program features a lesson, craft and story. Adult participation is required. Cost is $9 per child. (803) 779-8717; riverbanks.org
