Car talk

The Jaguar F-Type is the car manufacturer’s first true new sports car model in half a century. No wonder there was so much buzz surrounding the global unveiling. Karla Chickering of Hampton Jaguar, a local Jaguar dealership, will discuss the new design at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Columbia Museum of Art as part of the Columbia Design League’s “Meet the Designer” series. The museum is at Main and Hampton streets. $10, free for CDL members; www.columbiamuseum.org

Friday

Movie in the park

Gather the family and blankets, lawn chairs and picnic baskets and go to Riverfront Park at 8 p.m. Friday to watch a movie. It’s “Ice Age: Continental Drift” Friday and “The Croods” next week. The series will runs through July 26. The park is at 312 Laurel St. Free; www.columbiasc.net

Saturday

“Red, White & Bling”

The 2013 Fourth of July celebration on Lake Murray begins with a boat parade at noon Saturday. The boats will meet at Bomb Island, and the theme is “Red, White & Bling.” Spectators can watch from the Lake Murray Dam or on their boats. Fireworks, shot from Spence Island and Dreher Island, will brighten the sky at 9 p.m. For more, visit www.lakemurraycountry.com.
