COLUMBIA, SC — Richland County deputies have charged two suspects with burglary and grand larceny after a high-speed car chase Sunday evening that wound up in the Beltline Boulevard area, a sheriffs department spokesman said Monday.
Deputies continue to seek a third suspect, spokesman Curtis Wilson said.
Wilson identified the two suspects as Tony Henry, 20, and Jeremiah Kelly, 20. Both are charged with first degree burglary and grand larceny, he said.
The chase started in the Green Lakes community off Leesburg Road after a vigilant citizen called 911 about an apparent burglary taking place, Wilson said. The citizen gave a description of a vehicle behing used to carry out the possible crime.
Deputies arriving on the scene spotted the car a gold Chevrolet Malibu and gave chase. Additional patrol cars joined in.
In the Beltline Boulevard area south of Columbia, the car stopped and two suspects were caught. The third escaped on foot.
Teams of law enforcement pursued the fugitive with a K-9 tracker dog but failed to find him.
