Kim Kaufman earned her first career Symetra Tour title on Sunday when she downed Mitsuki Katahira on the first playoff hole at the Island Resort Championship.

Kaufman, a tour rookie making just her third start on the circuit, fired a 4- under-par 68 on Sunday and ended 54 holes at 3-under 213.

Katahira, meanwhile, shot 1-under 71 at Sweetgrass Golf Club to finish alongside Kaufman at minus-3.

In the playoff, Kaufman hit her third shot at the par-5 18th safely on to the green while Katahira's third found a greenside bunker.

Katahira then blasted her next shot over the green, allowing Kaufman to calmly 2-putt for par and the win.

Jessi Gebhardt carded a final-round 70 and ended in a tie for third place with Garrett Phillips (73) at 1-under, while Hannah Jun (69), Martina Gavier (70) and Cathryn Bristow (72) tied for fifth at even-par 216.
