Government

Columbia City Council: 2 p.m. today at the Eau Claire print building, 3907 Ensor Ave. at Monticello Road. Council hears from residents about the impending deal to commit $70 million in public money to Greenville developer Bob Hughes for the start of construction at the proposed, vast Bull Street neighborhood. Council also is scheduled to cast the first of the required two votes on the plan.

Richland County Council: 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, a council work session on a proposal to steer road projects funded with the local sales tax to small and local businesses, followed at 5 p.m. by a meeting of the economic development committee and at 6 p.m. by a regular session of the full council, all at the Richland County Administration Building, 2020 Hampton St., Columbia.

Eastover Town Council: 6:30 p.m. tonight at Eastover Town Hall, 624 Main St.

Around Town

Riverfront plaza named: At 10 a.m. Wednesday, local government officials meet at 211 Gervais St., behind EdVenture, to dedicate the new greenway plaza to former mayor Bob Coble.

Government

Cayce City Council: 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 1800 12th St.

West Columbia City Council: 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 200 N. 12th St.

Chapin town Council: 7 p.m. Tuesday at Town Hall, 103 Columbia Ave.

Gaston Town Council: 7 p.m. Tuesday at police headquarters, 186 N. Carlisle St.
