Weather cancels demolition work on Broad River Bridge

jmonk@thestate.comJuly 2, 2013

— The bridge over the Broad River was expected to be closed briefly for up to 15 minutes around 3 p.m. Tuesday, but those plans have been scuttled.

Rain and rising river levels have postponed the work, the City of Columbia report.

The closure – for demolition purposes – would have been the latest of several in recent weeks as crews work on a new bridge.

The Broad River Bridge is a major commuter route along the St. Andrews corridor in and out of Columbia.
