— An Independence Day house fire injured no humans but took the lives of three pets in a home off Polo Road in Richland County.

The fire, near Two Notch and Polo roads, caused about $450,000 in damages and remains under investigation, Columbia Fire Department spokesman Brick Lewis said.

No residents or firefighters were injured, but two dogs and a cat were killed, he said.
