SCHOOLS

EIGHT LEXINGTON-RICHLAND 5 STUDENTS have received the University of South Carolina’s Carolina Scholars Award including Michael Bagley and Sarah Roof, Chapin High School; Jordan Hoffman and Supriya Juneja, Dutch Fork High School; Samuel Collinsworth, Pooja Malhotra and Kelsey Murrell, Irmo High School. Ellen Gardiner, Dutch Fork High School, has been named a Stamps Carolina Scholar.

THE GILBERT HIGH SCHOOL YEARBOOK has been inducted into the Walsworth Publishing Company’s Gallery of Excellence, a showcase of the finest yearbooks produced by Walsworth customers.

WHITE KNOLL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS have received an honorable mention at the South Carolina Envirothon Competition, which tests their knowledge of soils, water resources, forestry, wildlife and environmental issues.

LEXINGTON TECHNOLOGY CENTER’S AUTOMOTIVE TRAINING PROGRAM has received accreditation from the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation and the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.

COMMUNITY

ALLEN HARDIN has received an Outstanding Volunteer Award from the South Carolina FIRST LEGO League. Hardin is a teacher at Carolina Springs Middle School.

SABRINA SUBER has received the South Carolina NAACP Presidential Citation for her commitment to civil rights and promotion of all people. Suber is the principal at Richland Northeast High IB World School.

YOUTH

BRANDON EAGLE has received a County of Lexington, Public Safety Director’s Coin of Excellence. Mack is an eagle scout from BSA Troop 307.

PLEASANT HILL MIDDLE SCHOOL HONOR BAND STUDENTS have participated in the 2013 “You’re Instrumental” workshop, which focuses on enhancing sight-reading skills and learning to execute a pitch perfect performance.

ROBERT LARSEN has won second place in Desktop Application Programming at the Future Business Leaders of America National Leadership Conference. Larsen is a student at Gilbert High School.

MILITARY

AIR FORCE AIRMAN KAROLINE ANCEL has graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. She is a 2012 graduate of Lexington High School.

AIR NATIONAL GUARD AIRMAN 1ST CLASS BENJAMIN C. STRAIT has graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Strait is the son of Cecile Strait of West Columbia.

AIR FORCE AIRMAN CARMEN D. ADDISON has graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. She is a 2008 graduate of Sloan School Inc. in Columbia.

NAVY SEAMAN RECRUIT RYAN C. BOSWELL has completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. He is the son of Sheila M. Kirkpatrick and Bill C. Boswell, both of Columbia.

NAVY SEAMAN APPRENTICE KENNON P. WHYTE has completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. He is the son of Paula D. Crumpton-Whyte of West Columbia.

CIVILIAN JOSH S. FULMER has enlisted in the U.S. Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District, Raleigh, N.C. He is the son of Miriam L. Schofield and Scott H. Fulmer, both of Lexington.

AIR FORCE AIRMAN ANTHONY S. TSUBOI has graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Kimberly Tsuboi of Hopkins.
