— On June 28, I watched Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., deliver remarks from the State Farmers Market on C-SPAN. It was embarrassing to me and should have been a major embarrassment to the state of South Carolina to have the flag of the United States incorrectly displayed directly behind the senator. The state flag of South Carolina was in the dominant, senior position, to the viewer’s left with the United States flag in the junior position, to the viewer’s right.

In this country no flag is displayed to the U.S. flag’s right, which is the viewer’s left. It’s difficult to understand why no event organizer noticed the error.
