Columbia’s 3 Rivers Music Festival postponed

July 12, 2013

— The 3 Rivers Music Festival has been postponed because of the rain and weather forecast for Saturday.

The outdoor event will not be canceled, but rescheduled, said Carol Fowler, spokeswoman for 3 Rivers Music Festival. The festival board expects to announce a new date for the two stages in the Vista within the next couple of days, she said.

Saturday’s performances were to be the part of a two-weekend festival. Last weekend’s performances focused on gospel and jazz.

Rain has been a concern all week for the festival, Fowler said.

“We felt that for people’s safety if nothing else it would be better not to try to go on with the festival,” Fowler said.

Sandra Sims, executive director of the festival, said it was a good business decision to postpone the event because of the rain.
