Camden woman dies after one-car accident in Fairfield County

— A Camden woman died after her vehicle hit a tree on US 21 north of Ridgeway on Wednesday afternoon.

The 66-year-old woman, who was wearing a seatbelt, ran off the right side of the road around 2:30 p.m. when she overcorrected and then ran off the left side striking an embankment and trees, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.

The vehicle overturned and the driver was transported to Palmetto Health Richland hospital where she was pronounced dead around 4:19 p.m.

The woman’s name was not immediately available from the Fairfield County coroner.
