July 20, 2013

— Columbia police officers are seeking help finding a suspect after a woman was shot and killed early Saturday morning in the Lyon Street neighborhood downtown.

Dandra Monet Pelzer, 24, was shot and died at the scene, according to Richland County Coroner Gary Watts.

Officers responded to the 1300 block of McDuffie Street at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday after hearing reports that shots were fired, according to a Columbia Police Department news release.

The female was with a group outside of a residence at the time, the release said. The identity of the female was not immediately available.

She was pronounced dead by emergency personnel at the scene.

Police continue to determine a motive for the shooting, the release said.

Interim Police Chief Ruben Santiago said the department is looking for a white, older model Ford Crown Victoria in connection with the case.

Santiago encourages anyone with information to call CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
