Man faces burglary charges in three home break-ins

July 22, 2013

— A 23-year-old man faces burglary charges in connection with three home break-ins in the Chapin area over the weekend.

Zachary Trantham, 23, was arrested Sunday, after a homeowner allegedly found him inside one of the homes Sunday, Lexington County Sheriff James Metts said.

Metts said the suspect consumed food and alcoholic beverages in each home and fired a shotgun at beer cans and others items inside one residence, leaving holes in its walls. The break-ins occurred at two homes on R.B. Baker Drive near Chapin and one home on Crystal Creek Circle near Chapin.

Trantham is charged with three counts of first-degree burglary and one count of discharging a firearm in a dwelling. He was being held Monday at the Lexington County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
