The Lake Murray Titans conquer Global series

The Lake Murray Titans baseball team went undefeated and recently won the USSSA 11-and-under Global World Series in Myrtle Beach.

The Titans beat teams from North Carolina, Michigan, Oklahoma and South Carolina to post a 7-0 record in the Global World Series.

The Titans, which finished with a 30-1 record, beat a team from Oklahoma in the championship game, 16-3.

The Titans played 45 games in the spring and had a record of 38-7.

In those games, the Titans scored an average of nine runs and gave up an average of four runs.

Coaches for the team were Doug Webb, Matthew Calhoun and Jami Newell.

Irmo Little League wins

The Irmo Little League ages 9-10 Baseball All-Star Team won the state championship to advance to the Tournament of State Champions in Ceredo-Kenova, West Va., starting Friday.

State champions from South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia will compete in the five-day event.
