Lexington woman dies in single-car crash

LEXINGTON, SC A Lexington woman died after being thrown from her vehicle in a one-car crash in Lexington County, the S.C. Highway Patrol reported.

The county coroner’s office Monday identified the deceased person as Betty Alice Smith, 58. She was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene from head and body trauma.

The crash happened late Sunday afternoon on Old Lexington Road as Smith’s vehicle – a Mitsubishi 3000 – was headed south and then ran off the right side of the road.

The incident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
