SPARTANBURG, S.C. - — Plenty of fans get their replica jerseys, hats or footballs signed by Cam Newton.
Not many get his cleats.
After signing several autographs for fans following practice Tuesday morning, the Panthers starting quarterback saw one fan beaming at him.
She was Shelley McIntosh, a Mint Hill resident who was in a wheelchair, flanked by her father, Allan, and mother, Pat.
Newton said her smile attracted him to her, and he signed a football for her. After her parents told the quarterback Shelley was his biggest fan, Newton took off his Under Armour cleats and signed them for Shelley before posing for a picture with her.
