Two people charged in July 20 downtown fatal shooting

— A 20-year-old man and 18-year-old woman have been charged in the early morning shooting death of a woman standing in a crowd on McDuffie street July 20th, Columbia Police said in a news release.

Dandra Monet Pelzer, 24, was standing in a group of people on the 1300 block of McDuffie Street - in the Lyon Street neighborhood downtown - around 3:30 a.m. , Saturday, July 20th.

Nickolas Ryheem Richardson, 20, is accused of firing toward the group and hitting Pelzer in the head although investigators do not believe she was the intended target. Pelzer died on the scene, Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said.

Jessica Faye Edmunds, 18, was also charged with murder. She allegedly drove the getaway car, described by witnesses as an older model white Crown Victoria.

Richardson dmunds were arrested Wednesday afternoon.
