Pedestrian killed in Lower Richland identified

— A pedestrian on Garners Ferry Road in Lower Richland died after being struck by a vehicle early Friday, the State Highway Patrol reported.

Kelly L. Mitchell, 38, was killed when she was struck by a car while walking in the roadway, said Richland County Coroner Gary Watts. Mitchell died at the scene as a result of trauma sustained from the collison.

The circumstances of the incident that happened shortly after 1 a.m. are under investigation, troopers said.

It is unknown why the person was on the road, troopers said.
