National night out - events

A 30-year tradition, National Night Out was started to show criminals that citizens are vigilant in protecting their neighborhoods.


The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies and resident deputies will participate in 20 events that neighborhood watch groups will conduct Tuesday.

Events in the North Region Patrol District, based near Irmo, will be held at the following locations.

200 Century Drive (Hallmark subdivision)

200 Stratton Court (Stratton Place subdivision)

Char Oak Drive (The Woods subdivision)

Willow Winds Drive (Willow Winds subdivision)

Ashland Road (Woodland Hills subdivision)

Bush River Road (Woodland Village Apartments)

Seawright Road (Pine Glen subdivision)

Seven Oaks Park, Leisure Lane (near the Whitehall Extension subdivision)

Blossom View Court (Magnolia Ridge subdivision near West Columbia)

Old Barnwell Road (Barnwell Estates subdivision near West Columbia)

Chapin Furniture, 1150 Chapin Road

West Region Patrol District, based near Gilbert

Wal-Mart Super Center, 1780 S. Lake Drive

427 College St., Batesburg-Leesville

Lake Village Road (Harbour Watch subdivision)

Lower Richland High School, 2615 Lower Richland Blvd., 6-9 p.m. Tuesday. Event will feature Sheriff Leon Lott, CAT/SRO deputies, helicopter, 9-ft. deputy, K-9, Kid ID printing, D.A.R.E. vehicle, fun, games and food.

St. Andrews Park, 920 Beatty Road, 4-8 p.m. Tuesday. Sponsored by the Richland County Neighborhood Improvement Program and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, communities along Broad River Road are invited for food, exhibits, entertainment, demonstrations and crime prevention tools and tips.

North Donar Court (Woodland Greens Homeowners Association, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday

Westminster Drive and Canterbury Road (Forest Hills Neighborhood Association), 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday

Hollywood Park, 300 S. Gregg St. (Hollywood Hills-Rose Hill Neighborhood Association), 6-8 p.m. Tuesday

Hampton Park, 1117 Brandon Ave. (Brandon Acres-Cedar Terrace), 7 p.m. Tuesday

College Place UMC, 5801 Colonial Drive (College Place Community Council), 5-8 p.m. Tuesday

Windsor Elementary School, 9800 Dunbarton Drive (Briarwood Neighborhood Association), 6-8 p.m. Tuesday
