UPDATE: Motorcycle driver killed in Lexington County

— The driver of a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle was killed Saturday after hitting a car while making a left turn, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

George W. Schurg, 52, of Lexingtonn, died at 3:52 p.m. at Palmetto Health Richland, acording to the Lexington County Coroner’s office. Schurg was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, accoding to the Highway Patrol. The driver of the other car, a 1988 Plymouth, was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

According to the Highway Patrol, Schurg was making a left turn from U.S. 1 onto Charter Oaks Road at about 1:55 p.m. on Saturday when he struck the Plymouth.

Authorities said they were still investigating the crash.
