Charlotte Motor Speedway hosts Parade of Power

Observer staffAugust 7, 2013

Charlotte Motor Speedway hosts the annual Parade of Power at noon Wednesday with vehicles representing a range of motorsports.

The third annual parade begins at Concord Mills mall and ends at the speedway’s Avenue of Flags. It is designed to call attention to several major racing events scheduled this fall at the speedway’s tracks -- Charlotte Motor Speedway and the nearby drag racing and dirt track racing venues.

Scheduled to appear are NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Trevor Bayne, NASCAR artist Sam Bass, National Hot Rod Association veteran driver Doug Herbert, and speedway mascot Lug Nut.

The Parade of Power is expected to include a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car, a Nationwide Series car, a World of Outlaws late model, a monster truck, an NHRA Top Fuel dragster, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Modified cars, speedway Toyota Camry pace cars, several classic automobiles and more.

The event is free and open to the public. Motorists can expect some delays along Bruton Smith Boulevard and on U.S. 29 around midday.
